Re:Earl of March - 2007/06/07 07:24 Hi Ethan,
Iím Wayne and I put together the .NET controls for the PC-BOT. Iíd be happy to help you come up with some things you could do with them that donít require a lot of work. Iím just finishing off a sample program, designed to give people some ideas of what can be done in .NET with the PC-BOT controls. In it I show how to do TTS (text to speech), read RSS feeds, check email, control the PC-BOT via Skype, and voice commands, and interface with RoboRealm (Robot vision). Iím in Ottawa so we could sit down and chat sometime. What ever you end up doing, it will be a real cool project for the students.

Re:Earl of March - 2007/06/07 08:36 Wayne,

That's fantastic! Sounds like your sample program will show all the cool stuff I've wanted to try - particularly the roborealm.

Ethan - can't tell you how lucky you all are with the 914; I know I've said this before, but it'll be a lot of fun compared to programming the HERO robot in hexdecimal when I was in high school.

Re:Earl of March - 2007/06/07 13:25 Well we got it up and running today. I installed VNC (a remote desktop control program) which makes life alot easier, but I'm sure everyone here already does that

I'm thinking that making some sort of game-or-something-along-those-lines would be fun. My first idea is making a program that stores a maze in a 2D array, and the program solves it and moves the bot as though it were in an invisible 3D version.

Wayne, I think I got an email describing your projects with voice recognition, weather retrieval, and RoboRealm. I would love to have a chat about the bots. Maybe we could meet up in a Starbucks sometime?

Re:Earl of March - 2007/06/07 17:21 Hi Wayne! It seems you have an interest in speech recognition. Just in case you are interested we had a little chat on the forums about the subject around Christmas time 2006 see here:

It would be interesting to see your take on the whole speech thing.

Just as I was saying to myself and my dog and 'Herbie' just last night as we played 're-key everything' since you let the battery die ya dummy'
