Error message when starting Brian - 2007/03/31 00:29 Hi,

I started by "Brian -debug" but it returns the error message:

I Can't find RCM controller on any serial / usb port, try resetting the port.
There was a problem attempting to initialize M3, I can't feel my legs.

Then a few windows pop up saying:

VideoSwitchAR

m-pNetSink->Open
hr=-1072889816
line=433

InitASFWriter
hr=-1072889816
line=176

InitVideoFilters
hr=-1072889816
line=621

WMRemote Video
error:Unspecified error

I am sure the connection port # is set to 13000. Why there are those error messages?

Thanks.

Re:Error message when starting Brian - 2007/03/31 00:50 silly question but are you running it from a PC or your robot? I get those errors but only because Im running Brian on a PC. The hardware needs to be connected to the same computer that Brian is running on for it to be usable. Either that or maybe theres a config or installation problem.

Re:Error message when starting Brian - 2007/03/31 03:55 I am running Brian on the robot for sure. That's why it is weird to see those error messages.

Re:Error message when starting Brian - 2007/03/31 06:33 Another silly question, Is the M3 power switch on? (green switch)

Re:Error message when starting Brian - 2007/04/01 08:24 Does BRIAN GUI work ok if you connect to the Bot? - it sounds like it isn't as the error is basically saying that the BRIAN service can't find the M3 hardware.

On the Bot you should have BRIAN service running which will appear in the Windows 'services' section and should say 'started'.

On a remote PC (or the Bot) BRIAN Gui can be run to connect the BRIAN service over IP on port 13000.

The command lines that you are trying can only be run on the Bot - basically where the M3 is connected. If you need to use BRIAN commands in your own program remotely then you'd need to connect on port 13000 and send the strings over IP.

Re:Error message when starting Brian - 2007/04/03 00:35 Thanks for your reply, guys.

In fact, the green switch is on, the Brian service is started, and the Brian GUI works fine. I can move the robot using the "virtual joystick" in Brian. But the error messages still pop up when I type "brian -debug" in DOS console mode under WinXP.
