B R A I N - 2008/05/31 03:04 This thread discusses the Content article: B R A I N

Appreciate all the work that folks in the community have done in getting software out for the 914.

Any status updates on MSRS services or B.R.A.I.N?

Re:B R A I N - 2008/05/31 08:37 I can speak for BRAIN, so Dave can work to put the finishing touches on what we think will be v1.0.

It's this close.

Just kidding, Dave. It's cool. It's not a development language, but rather a slick and intuitive end-user interface with a lot of power. Anyone can drive it right away.

My favorite parts are the speech recognition and motion sensing. My robot sends me an email when the guards at the office walk by. During the day I drive it around with a couple webcams, watching where I'm going and where I've been, all through Remote Desktop.

You're gonna like it.

Re:B R A I N - 2008/05/31 22:57 I should clarify that email comment...I leave the robot running in the office, with the motion detection active. When the robot senses motion it captures a few screens to the HDD and emails one of them to me at home.

Next week I'm going to punch a hole in our firewall in the office so I can drive it around from home, too.

Re:B R A I N - 2008/06/01 00:59 Sounds like fun - I've seen the screenshots. Tell me about the dual camera system. Is that to provide a wider view?

Have you devised a recharging system for your office pc-bot?

Re:B R A I N - 2008/06/01 03:25 No, we haven't done any recharging system yet.

BRAIN has panels for up to two installed webcams. You can use them for anything...a wider view or whatever...depends how the 2nd cam is mounted. There's a frame rate setting that allows both cams to work just fine and the CPU is not being overwhelmed. The robot I'm using now runs on the Intel D210GLY2 with a Celeron, and the performance is fine.

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind when I installed the 2nd camera was to wonder how six of them might work. That might require 802.11n running on and a couple 5 GHz channels.

Re:B R A I N - 2008/06/04 00:30 B.R.A.I.N. was just released this week at 1.0... I will post an eval version to the site this week. (Just wrapping up some documentation on RobotGrayMatter.com first).

Dave...
